Yesterday, I talked about advocates. Today, I continue to speak about the importance of advocacy. I wonder where we would be without some of our most important advocates, brave enough to speak up – brave enough to go against the status quo. I was thinking. I was thinking. As I was in thought – a question came to my mind. How could I have left out the name of the greatest advocate ever? - For He is the model for all advocates.
Jesus Christ was an advocate. He was a peaceful advocate. Make no bones about it; he was everything an advocate should be. No man can reach His level. But we can learn from the Master.
Jesus did argue. Read His words to the Pharisees, to the learned, to the rich, to all people… Jesus went against the status quo! Read about His sermons; and His words to his own disciples. Look at why he overturned the tables.
Jesus was not only a Man of words; He was a man of action. He traveled, He spoke, He loved, He healed, He forgave… Being falsely accused, He died on the cross. Why? Because he paid the ultimate price for His advocacy – he died for His cause.
The Bible, the greatest book ever written, is a form of advocacy. Most important it gives us a picture of the advocacy of God Himself and a picture of the “True Advocate.”
