Education needs warriors. People in some school systems know of what I speak. We need warriors to support our teachers. That used to be the union. We also need warriors for kids. I am tired of crying and weeping for doing what is right and just. I want to become a warrior for kids.
As a warrior, what will I do?
I will “fight.” I will not be afraid to fight with everything I have. I will no longer run and hide. I may cry, but those cries will be cries of hope. The tears will be of sadness that the fight had to take place. But don’t let the crying fool you – I will fight.
While others run away, I will stand firm. I will not turn away from those who need me. I will learn to fight with knowledge and skill. I will give heart and soul. I will serve. Bring on Goliath. Bring on the “armies” of many to my few.
I will pursue. I will seek what is “good” and “right” and “just.” I will look in the face of those who lie and create drama that leads to children to being hurt. I will not look down and bow my head. I will put the interests of children first and foremost.
I promise to defend the weak. I will defend the children who cannot defend themselves. I will also help children to become strong and to believe in their own value and abilities. When children are wrong and have committed errors, I will help them to grow and correct those mistakes. They too will learn that their actions start a series of events.
I will honor those in pain and sorrow. I will acknowledge their hurts and help them find resources and a path to wellness. The fight will be to bring joy.
When I am wounded in “battle”, I will not give up. I will continue. I will “fight the good fight” to the end. A great warrior gives everything she has. For help, I will go to the greatest Warrior of all time for words of strength and solace – Jesus.
An advocate is a kind of warrior. We need warriors. Become a warrior – I answer the call. I begin by putting on the armor of God. Help me be the best I can be so that I may be a warrior for kids!
