A higher power

There is no one on this earth that can defeat you!  The only one who can defeat you is God himself, and that is NOT his desire.  I believe in God.  In reality, what can man do to you?  Yes – man can hurt you, slander you, give you pain, and even kill you.  But who has the power to give you everlasting life?  God!  God is greater than all of man.

God, the highest power, is important to me.  When all others have forsaken me.  When all others find me unworthy.  When it seems like I am nothing – God says to me, “You are mine.”  You are not forgotten or forsaken, for I am always with you. Do not worry, for even the hairs on your head are numbered.

When others falsely accuse me, God knows the truth.  It is God who knows my heart, and will not condemn me.  He sees my desire to fight for what is right.  Though I often fail, He believes in me and guides me.

When it seems as though I am alone, I am reminded that God is right there with me.  He holds me in the palm of His hand.  God tells me, through His word, that He will never forsake me.

When people consider themselves great, the Lord reminds me that the King of all suffered on the cross and died for His people.  There is no one greater.  Man’s greatness cannot begin to compare to the greatness of the Almighty.

If it is ones desire to fight for the weak and the oppressed and for those who cannot fight for themselves – I think about the many examples in the Bible.  I read about the work of Jesus.  His words and preaching showed strength.  He showed his passion by overturning the tables and by accepting those who were different.  His actions were of peace and love.  Jesus preached the good news – He was not silent.  In accordance with God’s will the words and preaching of Jesus led to His crucifixion and death.

When I fail, God shows me the imperfection of man.  Only Christ was and is perfect.  Free will and failure are a part of life.  God’s love and forgiveness consoles me, lifts me up, and shows me the way.

I believe in a higher power.  I believe in God.  I believe in the Holy Spirit.  I believe in the Son of Man.  When all others desert me and fail me, God claims me as His own.  I know God’s love endures forever.  May His face shine upon us and be gracious to us.
